Wound Closure at Taylor Grey
Private Stitches, Sutures & Wound Gluing in Knightsbridge
What we treat
Cuts close best when they're closed early and closed well. Our nurse practitioners provide same-day suturing, skin gluing and cosmetic wound closure at our Knightsbridge clinic, seven days a week, with a free follow-up included.
-
Clean, straight cuts from sharp objects (incised wounds) and more irregular tears (lacerations) both need prompt closure to reduce infection risk and scarring. Our consultants clean, explore and close the wound in a single visit. Usually with sutures, sometimes with glue or Steri-Strips depending on depth and location. Most cuts are best closed within 6–8 hours of injury.
-
Cuts to the face, lip, eyebrow or scalp margin need a scar-minimising approach, fine sutures, tension-free technique and careful alignment of skin edges. Our nurse practitioners use cosmetic closure methods to give the best possible long-term appearance, with free follow-up for suture removal and wound review. Ideal for sport, cycling, glassware or household accidents.
-
Hand and finger cuts need particular care because of underlying tendons, nerves and joints, a missed injury can affect function for months. Scalp wounds bleed heavily but usually close well. Limb cuts range from minor to deep. Every wound is examined for foreign bodies, tendon involvement and neuromuscular injury before closure.
-
Wounds from glass, knives, tools or sporting impact often carry a higher risk of retained foreign bodies, deeper tissue damage and contamination. We assess every wound for embedded fragments (using on-site ultrasound where indicated), irrigate thoroughly, and close with the right technique for the mechanism of injury. Tetanus cover is reviewed at every visit.
-
Medical adhesive (tissue glue) is an excellent option for small, clean, low-tension cuts. Particularly on the face and in children, where it's quicker and less distressing than stitches. Glue creates a flexible waterproof seal that falls off naturally as the wound heals, with no follow-up needed for removal. Not suitable for cuts over joints, deep wounds, or anywhere under tension.
-
Steri-Strips (adhesive skin closure strips) bridge the edges of shallow cuts without puncturing the skin. They're ideal for thin, superficial wounds with low tension. Often on the face, forearm or shin and are sometimes used alongside stitches or glue for added support. Our nurse practitioner decides the right method during your assessment.
-
Already had stitches in A&E, abroad or at another clinic? We remove sutures in a quick, comfortable appointment and check the wound has healed well. If there's any sign of infection, dehiscence or poor healing, your consultant will advise on the next steps, including re-closure or antibiotic cover if needed.
-
Any wound, particularly one contaminated by soil, rust, saliva or broken glass, carries a tetanus risk if your vaccination isn't up to date. Our nurse practitioner reviews your vaccination history at every visit and provides a tetanus booster where clinically indicated, so you leave fully covered.
