General health, illness & wellbeing
Not every concern fits a neat label. We see women for everyday illness, infections and general health worries, alongside a broader look at wellbeing: sleep, energy, mood, weight and the blood tests that help explain them. One unhurried appointment, with a clear plan at the end of it.
Vaginal infections, discharge & irritation
Unusual discharge, bacterial vaginosis (BV), thrush, and vulval itching, irritation or soreness are common and very treatable. We examine you, take swabs where needed and start treatment in the same visit, with lab results typically back within 24 to 48 hours.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Burning, urgency or lower abdominal discomfort can be tested on the spot. A same-visit urine test and, where appropriate, treatment started before you leave. Recurrent or unusual infections are investigated properly rather than simply treated again.
Heavy, painful, irregular or absent periods
Heavy bleeding (menorrhagia), painful periods (dysmenorrhoea), cycles that have become irregular, delayed or stopped altogether (amenorrhoea), and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). We take a full history, check hormone and iron levels, and scan the uterus and ovaries for fibroids, polyps or cysts, all in one appointment.
Abnormal or unexpected bleeding
Bleeding between periods, after sex, during perimenopause or after the menopause always deserves a prompt, proper answer. We assess the womb lining and ovaries with bedside ultrasound and arrange formal imaging or specialist referral quickly where anything needs a closer look.
PCOS, ovarian cysts, fibroids & endometriosis
Assessment, diagnosis and management of polycystic ovary syndrome, ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids, with hormone blood tests and a pelvic scan in the same visit. Endometriosis is assessed on your symptoms and examination: ultrasound can support the diagnosis but cannot rule it out, so where it is suspected we refer you to a specialist for definitive investigation.
Pelvic pain & pain during sex
Persistent pelvic pain and pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) have many possible causes, from cysts and infection to pelvic inflammatory disease and hormonal changes. A scan-led assessment of the uterus, ovaries and any free fluid in the pelvis, alongside examination and tests, helps find the cause rather than leaving you guessing.
STI testing, sexual health & pelvic inflammatory disease
Discreet sexually transmitted infection screening with swabs and blood tests, treatment where needed and clear advice on partners and follow-up. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is assessed and treated promptly to protect future fertility.
Fertility concerns & initial fertility assessment
An initial fertility assessment for women who are trying to conceive or planning ahead: a detailed history, hormone profile, and ultrasound assessment of the ovaries including follicle measurement and tracking where useful. If specialist investigation or treatment is needed, we refer you directly to a fertility unit with your results in hand.
Perimenopause, menopause & HRT
Hot flushes, sleep and mood changes, brain fog, irregular cycles, joint aches and low libido are often dismissed. We offer a full assessment and counselling, blood tests where they genuinely help, and a personalised plan. That includes prescribing and monitoring hormone replacement therapy (HRT) where clinically appropriate, both systemic and local preparations, as well as non-hormonal options and ongoing review.
Vaginal dryness, atrophy & genitourinary syndrome of menopause
Dryness, soreness, discomfort during sex, urinary urgency and recurrent UTIs after the menopause are signs of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), also called vaginal atrophy. It responds well to treatment, including local vaginal hormone treatments and non-hormonal options, which we assess and prescribe in clinic.
Pelvic organ prolapse
A feeling of heaviness, a bulge, or bladder and bowel symptoms can indicate prolapse. We examine you, explain what we find, and advise on pelvic floor rehabilitation and treatment options, with referral to a specialist gynaecologist or pelvic health physiotherapist where needed.
Bedside pelvic ultrasound
Where clinically indicated, your doctor performs a pelvic ultrasound during the consultation: assessment of the uterus and womb lining for abnormal bleeding, fibroids and suspected polyps; the ovaries for cysts and other abnormalities; follicle development and tracking; and free fluid in the pelvis where a ruptured cyst or other pelvic problem is suspected. If formal diagnostic imaging is needed, we arrange it promptly.

Do I need a GP referral to see a women's health doctor privately?
No. You can book directly with Taylor Grey by phone or online, with no referral from your NHS GP. If you ever need hospital-based treatment or surgery, we arrange that referral for you.
How quickly can I be seen?
Usually the same day or the next day. The clinic is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm, and our team will call you back within the hour during opening hours to confirm a time.
How much does a private women's health consultation cost in London?
A women's health consultation at Taylor Grey is from £300. Tests and ultrasound are priced separately and always agreed with you before anything is done, so there are no surprises.
Can I have a pelvic ultrasound at the same appointment?
Yes, where it is clinically indicated. Your doctor performs a bedside pelvic ultrasound during the consultation to assess the uterus, womb lining and ovaries, so you leave with answers rather than a referral for a scan elsewhere.
Can you prescribe HRT?
Yes. After a full assessment, and where it is clinically appropriate, your doctor can prescribe and monitor hormone replacement therapy, including both systemic and local preparations, and review you on an ongoing basis. We also discuss non-hormonal options.
Can I see a female doctor?
Please tell us when you book if you would prefer to see a female clinician and we will do our best to arrange it. Whoever you see, you can bring a friend or partner, and a chaperone is always available for intimate examinations.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your doctor takes a detailed history, examines you where appropriate, and carries out any tests or bedside ultrasound needed in the same visit. Findings are explained in person, treatment is started where possible, and you receive a written summary and plan.
Do you offer STI testing, and how discreet is it?
Yes. Screening is by swabs and blood tests in a private consulting room, and results are shared only with you. Some infections take time to show on a test, so your doctor will advise whether a repeat test is needed.
Can you test for and treat a UTI on the same day?
Yes. A urine test is run in clinic and, where appropriate, treatment is prescribed in the same visit.
Can ultrasound diagnose endometriosis or PCOS?
Ultrasound can show features that support a diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome and can pick up some forms of endometriosis, but a normal scan does not rule endometriosis out. Both conditions are diagnosed from your symptoms, examination and tests together, and we refer to a specialist where definitive investigation is needed.
Do I need a full bladder for a pelvic scan?
For an external (transabdominal) scan a comfortably full bladder helps, so try not to empty it in the hour before your appointment. A transvaginal scan needs an empty bladder, and if both are done you simply empty it in between. If you are not sure which you will need, arrive with a full bladder.
Can I be seen while I am on my period?
Yes. Examination, swabs and ultrasound can all be done during a period, and for some bleeding problems it is actually helpful. If you would rather wait, just let us know when booking.
Will my private health insurance cover it?
Taylor Grey is a self-pay clinic, so you do not need an insurer or a referral to book. If you intend to claim, check with your insurer first: most require a GP referral and a pre-authorisation, and menopause care is often excluded as a long-term condition.
If I start HRT privately, can my NHS GP take over the prescription?
Often, but it is your GP's decision. We write to your NHS GP with the assessment and the plan, and standard licensed regimens are usually continued on an NHS prescription. Until then, a private prescription costs the price of the medicine plus the pharmacy's dispensing fee.
Will you share my results with my NHS GP?
Only with your consent. Many patients ask us to send a summary so their records stay joined up, and we are happy to do so.
