Burn & scald treatment at Taylor Grey

Private Burn & Scald Care in Knightsbridge

Severe burns (deep, any full-thickness, chemical, electrical, airway, or burns to face/hands/feet/genitals in children) need A&E/999.

What we treat

Minor burns and scalds need prompt, careful care to prevent infection and minimise scarring. Our Knightsbridge clinic provides same-day nurse practitioner-led burn treatment for adults and children.

  • Superficial burns affect only the outer layer of skin and present as redness, mild swelling and pain. Partial-thickness burns go slightly deeper, often forming blisters. Our nurse practitioners assess size, depth, location and cause, clean and dress the wound and plan the follow-up needed for complete healing.

  • Scalds are burns caused by hot liquids or steam and are one of the most common household injuries, particularly in children. Prompt cleaning, cooling and the right dressing can dramatically reduce pain, infection risk and long-term scarring.

  • Friction burns (from ropes, carpets or treadmills) and contact burns (from hobs, irons, hair tools or engine parts) need careful cleaning and protective dressings. We also assess for deeper injury, particularly where the skin has broken or a blister has formed.

  • Most sunburn heals with cool water, moisturiser and pain relief at home. Clinical care is useful when burns are widespread, blistering, accompanied by fever, dehydration or heat illness, or affect vulnerable skin such as a child's face.

  • Burn healing depends on the right dressing, changed at the right time. We provide non-adherent, silicone-based dressings suited to burn depth and location, and offer ongoing daily wound care from £50 per day for patients who need repeat dressing changes.

  • Burns that break the skin carry a tetanus risk if your vaccination history is not up to date. We review your immunisation status at every visit and provide a tetanus booster where clinically indicated, so you leave fully protected.
